Friends of the John Smith Chesapeake Trail

Our Partners

Our Partners

The Friends of the John Smith Chesapeake Trail gained the strength needed to create the new Capt. John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail from its coaltion of partners. More than 180 groups have supported this effort. They are groups of all kinds: state and local government agencies, businesses and business groups, tourist associations, and non-profit groups. They joined to create the trail because they saw the economic and conservation benefits.

Now the Friends and the coalition have a new mission. We aim to support the National Park Service's planning process, and to create more public access to the trail. We also want to help conserve the Chesapeake region's treasured landscapes and vital ecosystems.

Join our work. Stay up to date on the trail planning process, take action, and help create a healthier Chesapeake and an excellent new trail.

The National Park Service will create and manage the trail.

NEW - Friends of the Chesapeake Gateways Releases its 2009 Annual Report
