The Friends of the John Smith Chesapeake Trail was created to promote conservation, stewardship, access, and enjoyment of the Chesapeake's iconic landscapes and waterways and its cultural and historic assets, highlighted by the Capt. John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail and the Chesapeake Gateways and Watertrails Network. The Capt. John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail offers a chance to explore the bay, just as Capt. Smith and his adventurers did, while also protecting and preserving this great national treasure.
